I know I haven’t been posting on here much lately, but there has been a very good reason for this. Unlike the past few years, we are actually experiencing a spring this year. Temperatures have been in the 50s, with some days in the 60s, a few days hitting the 70s, and one or two rare days in the 80s. This has been a nice welcome return since the last few years have gone from the 40s to the 80s within a span of 3 days. You waited all winter to open up the windows and when the weather changed you were forced to put in air conditioners a few weeks later, thus closing up the windows until fall came. This is certainly not something I have enjoyed the past few years.
Other than enjoying the weather, I have not done much else except living the domestic life. Cleaning, cooking, laundry, baths, bedtime — lather, rinse, repeat. Somedays I really enjoy it, and other days it gets down right monotonous.
I did get a 36 hour break last week when I came down with a stomach bug that Jack had. I was literally laid up on the couch for a full 24 hours. It’s been a long time since I have been that sick. Thankfully it was only a 36 hour bug and I was back on my feet in no time.
Yesterday (Saturday) I had a great day with my family. Jess’s back was out so she spent most of the day on the couch resting and sleeping. Even though she was laid up, I was able to watch some TV, get onto my computer for a few hours to got some stuff done, play some games, and record a podcast. A very good day considering I can’t remember a day that I did two of those things, let alone all four.
Today so far has been a productive day. I was finally able to get outside and cut the grass for the first time this year. It felt really good to get out there in the sun, having an hour all to myself listening to my podcasts while I walked the mower around the yard. In the summer, even though it’s a chore on the days when it’s flirting with triple digit temperatures, it really is something I look forward to and enjoy. I really do believe that it’s genetic that I love to cut grass given my family’s history.
As for the rest of the day, I plan on relaxing, playing some games, and if I am lucky, maybe watch some ‘West Wing’ later. I only have 15 episodes left before I finish the entire series. I look forward to finish the series, but I know I’m going to be sad when I hit the end. This is really a series I have grown to love.
That’s it. That’s all I’ve got to say today. No get back to work!
