I have been on vacation since last Wednesday (8/18/10). Since then I have gotten to catch up on some sleep, see an old friend, spend some time with my son, and get away for 2 days alone with my wife to Ocean Grove. I still have today and tomorrow left, but as far as I am concerned, these are just bonus days.
Ocean Grove was as awesome and beautiful as ever. This was the first time that we have gotten a chance to go away since last August, and our first trip without Jackson. We were hesitant as to wether to take him to the beach or not, and for this year, we have decided to err on the side of caution. I am really glad we did. Jess and I really needed some time to ourselves. We have a plan in place to try out the beach next June, and if he likes it, we will take him next August for 2 or 3 days.
Right now I have the house all to myself and am relaxing. Actually, I’m making some french fries for lunch and am writing this post to keep my mind off my insatiable hunger. Jess is at orientation right now at Hanover Area, and Jackson is sleeping in his room.
This vacation has been a very calming one, which is something I really needed. I have been a little (sarcasm) stressed these past few months and really needed some time to relax and decompress. It also didn’t help that every time I put in for some time off this year I was denied because someone else in my department put in for the same time off before I did. This is why I haven’t had a chance to take any time off since March. But this is just the start of my time off. I’m off right now, a few days next month, a week in October for Jackson’s birthday, a few days in November, and I am taking half of December off this year for Christmas. I have never been off for Christmas and am really looking forward to spending it with my son. Even though this will technically be his 2nd Christmas, this will be the first year he will realize what is going on. It’s going to be a blast!
