I turned on my PC for the first time in almost 2 months this evening. I was greeted with a nice black screen telling me my installation of Windows XP, which worked just fine for over a year prior to me shutting off my tower, was corrupted. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated and pissed off. After about 20 minutes of trying to get the system to work, I reached my breaking point and had somewhat of a hissy fit about how much Windows sucks. It’s exactly because of shit like this that I originally switched over to using a Mac full time 20 months ago. I don’t have enough money to go out tomorrow and buy a Mac Pro (I wish!), so I am going to make my own.
Tomorrow night, I am going to pull the boot drive from my PC and replace it with a blank drive. I am then going to make the attempt to install OS X Leopard on my PC. I tried this before a few years ago and it didn’t quite work out, but I am at my wit’s end with Windows. In fact, if this works like I think it’s going to, I think I might install OS X on my laptop as well. Granted, either way my tower and my laptop will be dual boot systems. There are certain things I do that sadly, I need a Windows environment for. But since I cannot afford to replace all my remaining PCs with Macs, I’ll just have to turn my remaining PCs into Macs. It’s shit like this with Windows that makes me turn down PC repair jobs when I get offers.

That’s Windows for you ^^
In my family we have actually made it a habit to do a fresh reinstall of Windows every now and then. The PCs which are used most are reinstalled approximatly once every second or third month and the other ones about once each year.
This really shouldn’t be needed, of course, but it became a habit after we noticed the boost of speed a fresh installation brings you. Now the reinstallation is actually quite fun to do, and we usually have Windows up and running again with all the most used applications up-to-date in within two hours from the time the Windows disc was inserted.
A tip is to upgrade and try out Windows 7 which is soon released unto the market. Windows 7 is supposed to be faster and more stable than both XP and Vista and I’m amazed after I’d tried out the beta and the RC release.
