Finding Balance

Today was one of those days that started right, when right to craptastic, and then ended just as it began. Allow me to elaborate.

Jess and I slept in this morning. We were up semi-late the night before and since both of us had late shifts today, there was no need to get up. When we did finally wake up, we just laid in bed for another 30 minutes or so cuddling and talking. It was nice because there was no immediate reason to get up and leave one another. After we got up, we had a little breakfast, took a shower, and then I had to head to work.

Work was would be the craptastic part I was talking about. It wasn’t as bad as some nights, but it was just one of those night you wanted to finish and forget about. I left work, picked up some eats (a nice salad) and came home.

Once home I talked with my wife for a bit while downloading some new music. I have been in a musical rut lately, and needed something new and fresh. Since we just got done with watching season 2 of ‘Mad Men’, I decided to pick up some music from he 50s and 60s. After searching, I finally decided on some Frank Sinatra. I have never really listened to Sinatra before, so this would be new and fresh to me. I loaded the album onto my iPhone, grabbed the leash, and took Loki for a walk. It was nice to be outside late at night (about midnight), listening to some good music, and spending some time with the pooch. After about a 30 minute walk, we returned. Both the walk and the music were very good and just what I needed.

I am now off to bed with my wife. We have another baby Dr. appointment in the morning, followed by another full night of work. But alas, I have Wednesday and Thursday off. Maybe good things really do come to those who wait.

What A Nap!

So Jess and I got out of work at the same time today, which was 5pm. We had no clue what to have for dinner, so I drove from work to the grocery store to see what looked good. I was in the mood for a nice tuna steak, cooked nice and rare on the grill. However, the only tuna steaks they had were frozen solid. If I tried to thaw the tuna in the microwave, it would destroy the integrity of tuna. On the flip side, if I put them on the grill, even on a low temperature, you can forget about any chance of a rare steak, which is the only way tuna should be served. So, tuna was off the preverbal table.

Looking at the fresh fish case, I called Jess and inquired about some salmon or haddock. She said that seafood did not sound good at all because her stomach was off. After some discussion, she finally just asked for some french fries for dinner and told me I was on my own. So, I went and grabbed a bag of green grapes, a bag of fries, and ordered myself some sweet & sour chicken from Asian Cafe.

I arrived home starving, threw on an episode of Stargate SG-1, and devoured my sweet & sour. Jess in the meantime, cooked up her french fries.

After Stargate, I felt exhausted. I nestled my back into the corner of the couch and decided to close my eyes. My wife came over, pillow in hand, laid on me, and snuggled in as well. This was at about 7pm.

We just woke up. Somehow along the way, we ended getting up off the couch and made it to bed. To ne honest, this was news to me when I woke up. In fact, the only reason I woke up at all was because I was hot and thirsty. As I was getting a drink and feeding the feline heard, Jess comes stumbling out of the bedroom.

So, we’re both now sitting on the couch watching Deadliest Catch. I just hope I can fall back asleep. The work day beckons in but a short 6 1/2 hours.

When I Upgrade, You Get Upgraded

In the past, the tech gear that I used has influenced the content on this site. For example, quite a few years when I used my Pocket PC everyday, I had quite a few Pocket PC themes on here. When I brought back my weekly wallpapers back in 2005, my desktop resolution was 1024×768, and thus, all my wallpapers were at this resolution. As I increased my monitor size, my resolution went up, and so did my wallpapers. Then, in October of 2008, I started offering all my wallpapers in a widescreen ratio. In fact, right now all new wallpapers are offered at 1920×1200, my current resolution.

Where am I going with all of this? Now that have an iPhone, my wallpapers will now be offered in an iPhone friendly version as well. In fact, I have gone back and made iPhone versions for all wallpapers from 2008 and 2009.

See, when I upgrade, you get upgraded as well!
