I found some old pictures on my PC tonight that I found fascinating. By my best estimates these are from sometime in 2003.

The first one is me doing some coding while enjoying my drink of choice at the time: Pepsi Blue.

The next two are of my computer room. The first is was my desk configuration at the time and the other is the setup I had on an old kitchen table in my computer room.

Here we are, in the middle of Christmas 2008, and it has already kicked ass!

By far one of the coolest presents I have received was a total surprise gift from my wife. Like in past years, the best gifts are the ones you never see coming. I’m talking about the gifts that you would never guess in a million years. Jess surprised me with not one, but two of those this year. What are these mystical gifts I’m raving about? Shirts. Yes, I am ecstatic about shirts. Why? These are no ordinary shirts. Oh no…these are kick ass retro shirts.

Oh, did I mention that Alton Brown also wears these shirts?

Now the only question is which one to wear to dinner today…

…maybe I was wrong.

Here we go again, another storm is being predicted for tomorrow. Last week at this time we were supposed to get 7 inches of snow. What did we end up with? Rain.

Then we were supposed to get a storm earlier this week that was to have yielded 4 inches of snow. The end result? A light dusting.

Now they are calling for a ‘dandy’ of a storm starting tomorrow morning. Here is what the National Weather Service is calling for

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM FRIDAY TO MIDNIGHT EST FRIDAY NIGHT. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

LIGHT SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO THE AREA BETWEEN DAYBREAK AND MID MORNING. SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING… BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SNOW SHOWERS BY MIDNIGHT. THE SNOW COULD MIX WITH SLEET FRIDAY AFTERNOON… ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF SCRANTON… HAWLEY AND MONTICELLO. SNOWFALL TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE 6 TO 10 INCHES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL… KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT… FOOD… AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

My call on this one? Rain. I know for a fact we’re going to get rain because I even went out and bought a new snow shovel just in case.

Mark my words people…rain.

After being in the shop for 3 1/2 weeks, I finally got my car back today. What I thought was a faulty thermostat and some misfiring spark plugs ended up being a cracked block and head in my engine. To be honest, I’m not really sure what that means. What I do understand is what I needed to fix it: a new freakin’ engine.

Suffice it to say that what I just spent on my car, could have bought me a very nice MacBook.

But alas, I am happy to finally have a vehicle of my own again. Gone are the days of walking in the rain to go get lunch, waiting for rides to and from work, and being held hostage in my house while the wife is gone because she has the only working vehicle.

As a bonus, it’s snowing outside right now. While the storm has been downgraded and we are only slated to receive 1-3 inches, it’s still nice to see the ground covered in white a week before Christmas. Of course, the rain tomorrow will wash it all away, but I am enjoying it right now.

While I am glad to see that we’re going to get some of the white stuff, I find it odd that we’re getting a storm tonight. See, if you look back at posts made today back in 2005, and again in 2007, we had almost literally the same exact storm.

I’m starting to wonder what is so special about December 15th and winter storms.
