Vacation’s End

Today was my last day of my 10 day vacation. As always, it went way too quickly!

I would have to say about half of my vacation was spent working on projects such our working on the house and GrUG live, while the other have was spent having some fun with my wife.

All in all, I would have to say it was a good vacation. And the best part is that I still have 2 weeks of vacation time to use up this year!

Playstation 3 2.4 Firmware Update Features List

Sony is waiting to drop the 2.4 update at 2008′s E3, which is about 3 weeks away. Aside from Game Achievements, here is what we can expect to do with the new in-game XMB:

  1. Friend category
  2. View, send, receive messages
  3. Manage downloads
  4. Set the vibration feature of the controller
  5. Sign in to PlayStation Network
  6. Register friends
  7. Manage Bluetooth devices
  8. Terminate the game
  9. Music category
  10. Use the system BGM
  11. Work the system BGM operation panel
  12. Settings category
  13. Assign controllers
  14. View profiles
  15. Game category
  16. Set audio devices
  17. Use the voice changer

I will be the first to admit that I never saw the need to in-game XMP until JP and I played GTA IV online and I was having Bluetooth headset problems. I had to constantly quit out of the game and reconfigure the headset. This would have been so much easier with in-game XMB.

Vacation — Day 5

So today is my 5th day of vacation, and let m tell you…it doesn’t feel like it. My first day, Friday, was a run around day when I was out most of the day gathering supplies for my vacation. Saturday was spent at Knoebels having a great time. Sunday was spent hanging out with my wife, editing Episode 13 of Growing Up Geek, and starting to paint the porch. Monday was spent starting to clean up the house, taking the cats to the vet, and going over all the work that needs to be done to my house and my parent’s house with our electrician. Today — well, not quite sure yet. I’ll probably end up doing some more painting and cleaning today.

What this all boils down to is that I am almost 1/2 way through my vacation already and its going by like a whirlwind. I really can’t believe how fast it’s going. Today I am starting day 5 of 10, and it honestly feels like my second or third day off.

But then again, aren’t all vacation like that?

Return Of The King

Bob, our cat and king of the household, has been missing for well over a week. My wife last saw him when he went for a walk with her and the dog (yes, our cats take walks with us) back on 6/5/08. While on the other side of the known neighborhood, apparently a large dog barked at Bob and he went running. This was the we saw of him.

About a week later, we started giving up hope that Bob would return home. My wife, being somewhat of a pessimist, hoped that his death was quick and without suffering. Me on the other hand, believed that he was still alive and running a gang of wild, feral cats. Think of him like you would Pauly in ‘Goodfellas’. The other cats go and hunt, and bring Bob a chipmunk as tribute.

Then low and behold, after Monday’s thunderstorm, who decided to finally come home but Bob! After 11 days out doing God knows what, Bob is finally back at home.
