Guilty Pleasure

Yes, I bought this on iTunes tonight.

And yes, I listened to whole damn thing and enjoyed every minute of it!

There, now you know one of my guilty pleasures.

Finally

After a few months of going over on my text messages, and almost going over my minutes, I have finally gotten things under control. There is nothing more satisfying then opening up your online statement and seeing this:

Purging

After an quite in-depth internal monologue today while traveling to a from a job site, I have decided that it’s time to take inventory of my possessions. I’m starting with the computer room tonight. My basic rule of thumb is this — if it hasn’t be used in the past 6 months, it’s going to go away. The only things that will be exempt from this rule are action figures on my wall, book, and magazines. I am however, going to be weeding through my magazine collection. If I’m keep a whole magazine because of a few page article, I’m going to cut the article out and put it in a manilla folder.

What I am hoping to do is make my life more streamlined and more efficient. Right now everything seems a little too cluttered for my liking. Plus, I really can’t remember the last time I did something like his.

I want to try and live 2008 by the rule “Less Is More”. Make the most of what you have, rather than making more of what you have.

Ice Ice Baby

It looks as if the first wave of weather has passed. I’m not sure how much, but if I had to guess, I would say we got about a good 3-4 inches out there. The nice thing is that it’s nice a puffy light due to the temperature being in the 20s all day. However, right now it’s actually getting warmer with some Gulf moisture coming up, which means ICE!

They say that ‘significant icy is likely’ until tomorrow afternoon. What that means is right now it’s a 50/50 chance I will be going to work tomorrow. Considering I live on a little 1 way alley hill, and the only way for me to get to work is to literally climb and traverse 4 hills before I even make it to the interstate, I think it is a good possibility that I may not make it tomorrow. They pay me barely enough to live, they don’t pay me enough to die.

But, we’ll just have to wait and see what morning brings.

Storm Approaching

Looks like we’re in for a storm today kids. According to the good folks at The Weather Channel, 4-6 inches today starting in the afternoon, then another 1-2 of snow tonight before changing over to freezing rain. Once it changes over, we’re supposed to get ‘significant icing’.

Sounds like a blast if you ask me.

I’ve got work from 9am-6pm the rest of the week, so my ride home tonight should be a treat. Maybe if the road crews keep on top of it once it starts, I may just make it home tonight. If not, once it starts looking bad outside, I’m abandoning my post and heading home.

I’ll deal with tomorrow’s ice when it comes.

Dreams In 360

For anyone who has read my blog for the past month or so, knows that I have been having some pretty serious tech dreams. Hell, I wouldn’t be here writing this on a Mac if it weren’t for the month long series of nightly Mac dreams.

Last night I had another tech dream, but in a different way.

I had a dream last night that I finally went out and bought an Xbox 360. Granted, the dream wasn’t 100% representative of real life, but they never are. If you take out the creepy lady who ‘customized’ my 360, the weird guy I had to dual with a practice rapier, and the legion of undead coming from the beach, it was fairly realistic.

But here was the kicker.

It took me forever to finally decide to buy the 360, and it took me even longer to finally get it home. When I did, I unboxed it, and quickly hooked it up to my TV. As soon as I did, I was in a rush to setup my Xbox Live! account. After all of that, I reached for a game and then…

…realized that I didn’t have any games except Halo 3.

Why is this significant?

I don’t want Halo 3. In fact, after waking up, I couldn’t think of one game that would really make me lay down the cash for a 360. Honestly. Without something to play on the system, why would I spend a few hundred dollars on a system and a yearly fee for a Live! account if I had no underlying desire for it? Hype? Peer pressure?

Who knows.

What I do know now is that deep down I really don’t want a 360. Sure, it would be nice to hop on and play some games with my friends every once and a while. Oh wait, we’ve had that ability for years between our computers, PS2s, and DSs. Having the ability doesn’t magically free up our schedules so we can play. We’re still going to be just as busy if we didn’t have that ability.

It looks like my want for a 360 just took a 180.

Not A Fun Weekend

I really think the universe has it out for me. This was my first weekend off in 3 weeks and I was really looking forward to laying around, playing some WoW, and relaxing.

That didn’t quite happen.

Friday night after work, I hit up the liquor store, and got some supplies for the weekend since I wanted to relax. I got some regular vodka, and a bottle of sake since I was going to attempt to make some Tokyo Teas. When I got home, Jess asked if we could go shopping for some stuff for the house. Not having an issue with this, we headed out. Before we did though, we stopped by the cemetery to pick up my dad’s electric guitar since I really want to learn how to play. While we were leaving, my parent’s stopped by. We went back into the house with them and hung out for a little while. Now, when we initially left our house, my stomach started not feeling too well. I thought it was just hunger, so I dismissed it and made a metal note to pick up a small snack while we were out. However, while we were there with my parents, I started feeling worse and worse. I told Jess that I needed to go home and use the bathroom before we went shopping, plus I wanted to drop the guitar and amp of. By the time we got home, I was nearly doubled over. I went into the bathroom, did my thing, and felt twice as bad when I got out. Without even saying a word went right from the bathroom and into he bedroom, changed into my pajamas, and laid right down in bed. Jess came in a few minutes later and asked if I was okay. I told her that I was so nauseous that I couldn’t even move.

This was at about 5:30pm. The fun was about to begin.

At about 6:00pm, it started. I started throwing up very 20 minutes. Each ‘session’ lasted about 10 minutes, and it was a pure 10 minutes of pain. I would vomit for 10 minutes, go lay down for 10 minutes, and then vomit again. this went on from 6:00pm until 11:00pm. Yes, I vomited for almost 5 straight hours. After that, I was running a high fever and could not get warm. Finally, I was able to fall asleep and slept until about 9:30am on Saturday.

When I got up, I didn’t feel nearly as nauseous as I did the night before. I took a few sips of water, and got up. Feeling not too bad, I decided to go into the computer room. I thought that maybe if I did something and got my mind off how by I felt, I might be able to beat this thing.

Well, I finally made it into the computer room by about 10:30am. I lasted a whole 10 minutes sitting up. Yes sir, I couldn’t even sit up! So, it was back to bed with me, with the nausea quickly following me. Once again, at about 11:00am, I found myself back in the bathroom worshipping porcelain altar. After that episode, I went right back to bed and slept until about 9:30pm.

I got up, and decided to head into the living room. Not having eaten anything in over 36 hours, I was feeling a little hungry. Jess made me some tomato soup at my request, and I managed to down about a half dozen spoonfulls and about 4 saltines before my stomach told me to back off. I stayed up watching some TiVo until about 1:00am, and then went back to bed.

I awoke this morning at about 10:30am, and felt like a new person. My pounding headache was gone, my body wasn’t as achy, and the nausea was manageable. Once again, I got up and headed to the computer room. I was finally able to sit up for more then 10 minutes! Jess awoke about an hour later and was as surprised as I was to find me sitting up, some color back in my face, nursing a glass of diet pepsi. She made us some chicken wonton soup for lunch, and I was able to get down about a 1/4 bowl without any undesirable side effects.

Right now, I have to say that I am at about 60% of what most people would call ‘normal’. I still have no voice from all the vomiting (acid burns suck!!), and my body is completely sore from the multitude of muscles I pulled while engaged in said act for 5 hours straight. I’m going to take it nice and easy today, and I’ll see how I feel in the morning as to wether or not I need one more day to recoup before returning to work. I really don’t wan to miss a day, but if I need to, I need to.

So far today, I’m been on the computer doing some housekeeping on this site. I’ve updated WordPress to the latest version, and installed the newest versions of all the plugins I use. After this, I am going to be doing some backups, and what not. I’m going to attempt any 3-D games today ad I don’t think my stomach will be able to handle the motion. I am looking forward to the pasta dinner tonight though. The most solid food I have had since Friday afternoon is some light toast. I really wanted pizza, but Jess won’t let me near dairy yet, so we’ve compromised with some pasta.

So much for a nice relaxing weekend of, eh?
