It seems with planning for the new house that my life has finally found direction for the first time in a long while. I’m not looking at this house as my bachelor pad, or a place to share with Jess. I am looking at this house as a place that I will be living for the next 30 years and raising my family. That really changes a lot of things.

I’m going to be 30 in  less than 90 days, and I think that this is really a great place for me to be.

For the first time, I actually feel like a grown-up

Yes, today both Jess and I have a day off. While true, I have to go to a meeting tonight so it’s not a full day off, considering I haven’t seen my wife in over a week, I’ll take it.

To celebrate our day off today, I bought stuff to make us a wonderful breakfast. So, in a few minutes I’m off to grind and shred a few potatos to try my hand at making home-made hash browns. Once I have accomplished that, I’m making some bacon and pancakes. I’ll be enjoying plain old-fashioned pancakse while Jess will be njoying her favorite — chocolate chip pancakes.

After breakfast, we have some cleaning to do around the house, we have to go get me a new dresser, and then I think we’re going to take it easy. We’ll probably end up watching a movie, maybe some UK comedies, and maybe if it gets hot again today, some swimming.

Either way, it’s a day off with my wife and I will take it!
