New Telly

Well, it would seem that our TV isn’t as well as I thought it was. This past Tuesday, our main TV crapped out on me. I was watching TV, and all of the sudden, the screen went black. Sound was still there but no picture. I though it was the cable, but when I changed inputs, you didn’t even see the old “Video 1″ in the top right hand corner. Prognosis: picture tube. So, being a guy, I started hitting the TV. This of course, as anyone who’s eve experienced a bad tube first hand, brought the picture back after a few hits. This happened a few mote times that evening, and I ended up calling Jess letting her know that we’d better start thinking about a new TV. We talked about it for a few minutes, and without me even suggesting anything, she said that I should start shopping for one, and since the one we have is old, I should look for a nice HDTV.

This was again one of those moments when I knew I married the right woman.

So I shopped online for a bit and then went around to some local stores. I found one that I really liked in both size and cost, and as a bonus, it was at Target so we could get Jess’s discount. But then of course, as things would have it, the TV went back to being normal. A blessing in disguise since I didn’t want to put out a few hundred dollars right before our trip to England. Don’t get me wrong though. I’m not mad at my TV since I really don’t owe it anything. It’s a 9 year old 27″ Panasonic I got way back in the days when I was peddling electronics for Sears. It’s had 9 years of VHS (yes, that’s how old it is!), DVD, TV, and video gaming hours on it. All in all, it’s been a great TV and I owe it nothing.

Well, the TV once again started acting up yesterday. And again today. So, Jess and I talked, and she found out that the TV is going on sale next week for almost $200 off normal price, so it looks like that we will be picking up a new TV next week. I have to admit, that as much as I don’t want to spend the money, I am a little excited to get a new TV.

Here’s the TV that we are most likely getting.

Olevia 37

It’s a 37″ (37!) Olevia LCD HDTV. Granted, it is between this one and 2 other at the moment, but for the price, I think we are probably going to go with this one. Either way, it’s a nice upgrade from my 27″ tube set that only shows a picture when it wants to!
