Man On The Run

Well, I just got done doing a nice workout at the gym. I would have liked to have kept to the original plan of doing a full hour, but I got out of work late and I need to be across the river to do an i/o Computes job at 6pm. So, I ended up doing a 40 minute workout. Not too shabby.

Right now I am at Bennigan’s having a bite to eat. It’s in relative proximity to the gym, they have good food, and reasonable prices. Plus, I really didn’t have to time to go home, make something, and still make the i/o job. So, here I am typing away on my laptop, sipping on some Diet Pepsi, while the nice people in the back make me a Monte Cristo sandwich for dinner.

After this, I may have a few minutes to kill before heading to the job, and I am unsure what I am going to do there. I could go to the mall, but what would really be the purpose there? I could drive up to the parking lot of Panera Bread and steal their free wifi, but I’m not sure if I really want to sit in the car that long. Maybe I’ll just take a nice, slow drive to the job. It is after all a very nice day outside with temperatures in the 60s, and from what I saw last night, isn’t going to last long. Hell, they’re talking about freakin’ snow showers by Friday. Christ, I thought we were done with all this.

Jess is closing tonight, so that means that unless I am up doing something, or have a bout with insomnia, I won’t be seeing her until she gets home from work tomorrow around 8pm. Yeah, it sucks, but what are you going to do. We still have about 3 more weeks until she gets her transfer to the Wilkes-Barre store and shortens her commute by 45 minutes each way. That will be nice.

I’m not too sure what tonight will bring when I get home. I need to go to bed early since I didn’t last night and got nowhere near enough sleep. I’m hoping to be in bed, not necessarily asleep, by 11pm. I think that is a reasonable goal.

Tomorrow night is cleaning night since I have a friend and her kids coming over Wednesday evening to see the new kittens, and hopefully pick out the one they want.

Well, the cute waitress just brought me my food, so I think it’s time to stop typing, and start eating. Later…

Getting Ready For Monday

A new week, a new start.

Last week was pretty much a write-off for me since I was sick for most of it. It all started on Wednesday morning and went down hill from there. I missed work Thursday and Friday, both of which were spent in only 2 locations – the bed and the couch. Saturday I felt quite a bit better, but had a relapse today. I wish this thing would just go away.

While I was cough and sneezing today, my chest was killing me due to severe muscle contractions. But I think something else has a lot to do with that. In fact, I noticed it the other day while playing with Loki in the yard. I am sadly, and terribly out of shape. Since taking this new position at work over a year ago, I’ve gone from on my feet all day lifting and moving stuff, to sitting on a chair in an office. I have become a fat, lazy bastard. Jess and I joined a gym back in January, but I never really took it serious enough. I was lucky if I was going twice a week, and when I did, I would quit most of the time when I started to get tired. Frankly, I was a pussy.

But it’s go time baby. Tomorrow, after work but before I go off to an i/o Computers job, I am going to the gym and not only re-newing my membership, but working out for an hour. In fact, my new schedule is at least 1 hour of workout time Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays working pure cardio. In fact, I really want to increase that time to 2 hours, but I need a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things. I can see increasing that in maybe 2 weeks or so. I am sick of not only feeling over weight, but looking it as well. When I met Jess I was a lot smaller than I am now, but I got comfortable. I had found someone, I was getting, married, so who cared if I had that 2nd or 3rd rack of ribs. (just kidding!) But it’s not far from the truth. When you get comfortable with someone, you tend to relax and fall into bad habits. Not going for daily walks, eating at bad hours of the night when you know it’s wrong, and eating more than you should. Well, it’s time to put all of that behind me and look forward to the past. (yeah, that’s right!) Time to go back to the way I used to be — both in size, weight, and habit.

I am back into a most comfortable 34 in pants. I was a 32 when I met Jess. It took me 2 years to go from a tight 34 to a 32. Let’s see if I can get into a 32 by the end of the summer. I just weighed myself and I’m at 189 lbs. My goal for August 1st — 3 months away — is to be down to 165 lbs. That’s a goal of 24 lbs. Not impossible, but not easy either. I just need to adopt a healthier diet, and a more active exercise schedule. Right now the only walks I regularly go on are to the corner store to get some snacks while watching TV at night. Not good.

So tomorrow afternoon, the race begins. Can I catch the past? Stay tuned…

Give Me A Shop-Vac & A Turkey Baster

(I actually think that’s a name of a porn movie)

So my flu has decided to comeback in a highly organized attack today.

I had a very good day yesterday. I felt great, got my apatite back, and was feeling rather well overall.

Then I woke up this morning.

I’m not sure if having a dog, and 2 cats sleep on you because your wife is away had anything to do with it, but everything has collected right in my throat. I woke up with a soar throat, cough, inability to breathe, could barely swallow, and barely talk. What fun!

I’ve been nursing my throat with some green tea (iced variety) and it seems to help while the tea is going down, but as soon as it’s swallowed, it lurches right back in on its territory. I’ve been trying to clean the house all afternoon, and everything I get into a groove, I start coughing so much my chest actually hurts and I have to stop and sit down for a spell. When this happens, it’s like someone hits me in the chest with a wiffle ball bat. Not too pleasing, let me tell you.

I actually got a chance to play World of Warcraft for about 3 hours yesterday. I played an hour with Sied, my Undead Warlock, and then I started up my Orc Warrior Ballmer. I had him to level 5 withing in hour, and the to level 7 after another hour of exploring and questing. Quite fun actually. I’m thinking that I’m more of a Horde guy than an Alliance guy. Who knew?

My eventual plan it to have a nice little WoW sidebar to the right with my character info. The only issue I am running into is being able to add more than 9 text widgets to my site. I have to see if there is a workaround, and if not, I’m just going to have to get creative.

For now. I’m off onto the internets, going to try and stay warm, and nurse my throat till Jess calls me and lets me know she’s on her way home from New York so I can start dinner.
