THIS…IS…SPRING!

Ok, I think I am the only site on all the internet not to make a ’300′ joke. This was my lame attempt at doing so.

Seriously though, this has been a beautiful weekend. But don’t take my word for it, The Weather Channel can back me up on this one.

Enjoying Spring — Geek Style

It is a most beautiful late afternoon out. It’s almost 70 degrees, the sun is out, and there’s a gentle breeze. I’m currently enjoying it by being out on the porch, on the laptop, making this post while streaming Godsmack from my main box inside.

It’s times like these that being a geek is a very good thing.

It’s also time like these that laptops were made for.

I tried uploading a few pics from the Lappy Cam, but apparently the built in web cam on the laptop is a low-light web cam. That’s okay though. At least I know why it takes really good pics in pretty shitty light.

Mind Dump

The week work is almost over. Thank God.

Not that it‘s been a bad week per say, but it has been dragging something fierce.

My thoughts are all over the place right now, so just bear with me here.

On an update from my new diet, I have been making progress. When I put my pants on this morning, I was very pleased to find that I have got down a notch in my belt. That’s progress, right? And that’s progress without going to the gym for the past week since I haven’t been feeling well. Although I think I know why I haven’t been feeling well – I think I am fighting off a sinus infection. Jess went right into one when she got over her flu, and I can feel it trying to get a hold of me. I have been having all day headaches, and have been constantly tired. Hell, I went to bed last night at 9:30pm. That is totally not my normal bedtime.

The weather has finally decided that it time for spring. This weekend is going to be in the 60s with almost a 0% chance of rain. This is going to be nice since my dad and I are going down our farm on Saturday to plant 150 trees. It’s been ages since not only I’ve had a chance to get down there and do some work, but since my dad and I did something together that it was just me and him. It should be a fun day.

I’ve been trying to play a bit more World of Warcraft then I was in the past few weeks. I think I have finally figured out the dynamics of the game, and I am really starting to enjoy it. Although even though I played for about 3 hours tonight, I didn’t get much done since I was traveling with Ballmer and Sied to get them some new fighting attributes. I needed to take Ballmer to Undercity to get the ability to use two handed swords, and I needed to get Sied to Orgrimmar to get the ability to use staves. On a side note, I hate waiting for the freakin’ zeppelins!

I’ve been listening to the new Linkin Park single, and I have really been enjoying it. I really can’t wait to pick up their CD next month. On the other hand, I’ve been listening to Ozzy’s new single, and I’m not feeling the love yet. It sound like it came right off his last CD, and to be honest, I really didn’t care for his last CD. I just didn’t dig the sound at all. But then again, what the hell do I know? I’ll probably end up picking that CD up next month as well.

I think that’s about it for now. I’m outa here. Later….

Happy Easter

Easter is an interesting holiday for me. Jess and I aren’t religious people, so the whole church thing isn’ for us.  Also, I’m not a really big candy fan (aside from peanut m&ms), so the whole candy thing doesn’t do much for me either.

What it does mean for me is a common day, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, that Jess and I are both off. True, my store is open today, but in my position I don’t work Sundays. It’s a waste of payroll hours.

So, while Jess slept in this morning, I woke up, cleaned the kitchen, and made some fresh cinnamon rolls for breakfast. After the rolls were done, I went in and woke her up. We had a nice breakfast, and did the dishes afterwards. After that, I went and cleaned the living room while Jess prepped the Easter ham and put it into the oven.

And let me tell you, it smells delicious!

Now that the ham is in, and most of the house is clean, I think it’s time for a shower before starting some laundry. We won’t be eating dinner until around 2pm or so, so that gives us plenty of time to get the rest of dinner together. From what I can remember, we’re having some salad, sweet patotoes, regular potatoes, carrots, and I know something else I am forgetting. Desert this year will be a little different since I went shopping as well. To keep with my new diet, desert is fresh strawberries with some fat free cool-whip. Not very exciting, but healthier than sitting down and eating a whole pie (which I have been known to do).

But for now, it’s time to go get wet and naked!

Another Week Gone By

This has been a most odd week.

Work is starting to pick up a bit, which has been keeping me at the office longer than normal. So much in fact that I had to go in 30 minutes late today to try and cut hours, and I still ended up needing to leave an hour early. Not that I am complaining about that though!

Tonight Jess and I went out and bought food for our first Easter Dinner. We were hoping to have Jess’s mother and sister up for dinner on Sunday, but Jess called them today and it doesn’t look like they are going to be able to make the drive up. Although they did say that if we wanted to see them we were more than welcome to take a drive down to see them. o_0

Regardless, Jess and I are still having Easter Dinner together here. We’ve discussed this, and we are going to start making some changes this year by having more Holidays here instead of spending them traveling everywhere. Everyone will always be welcome to come here for any holiday, but I think we’re really going to cut back on our holiday traveling. I only get 2 guaranteed holidays off a year from my job –Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The only guaranteed holidays Jess gets off is Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Easter Sunday. For the past 3 years though, we have spent almost every single holiday traveling between 2 states to try and see everyone. We’ve never had a holiday here. We’re going to be changing this in 2007.

Digressing from the holiday talk, I re-joined the gym on Monday and have been working out 1 hour each day this week, well, except for yesterday. I got out of work really late, and had an appointment I needed to go to right after work, and by the time I got home, it was time to make dinner for Jess and I. But, along with going to the gm every day, I have also changed my diet. For instance, for breakfast every day I have a muffin and some chocolate milk to try and increase my calcium intake. Lunch is a 6” turkey hoagie on a wheat bun with a banana or other fruit object. Dinners have been earlier, and the portions have been smaller. After 3 days of working out my new diet, I have lost over a pound. No, that’s not a lot, but it’s a start.

Unfortunately I will not be able to go to the gym this weekend since they have reduced hours on Saturday due to the holiday and I will be working the entire time they are open, and of course, they are closed on Easter Sunday. But I will be back there Monday after work to get my sweat on!

Other than that, things have been kind of quite this week, mostly because I have been running around like a fool and have spent very little time at home.

On one last fantastic note, Jess finally got her transfer!! She will officially be starting in the Wilkes-Barre Target store on April 14th. That means that not only will her commute be reduced by 45 minutes each way, but she will literally be working at the end of my parking lot. That means that not only will she be possibly going back to the gym with me, but we will get getting about an extra 1 ½ hours a day together now that her commute is only about 15 minutes. Yay!!
