I’ll Never Grow Up
I’m almost 30 years old, and I bought a Transformer tonight. Not just any Transformer mind you, but the ultimate Transformer – Optimus Prime.
I bought a 20th Anniversary Edition Optimus Prime tonight. JP and I drooled over a nice Master Edition Optimus Prime over the weekend on eBay, but shelling out $150 for even the most revered of all Autobots is a bit much. So, I got a nice 20th Anniversary one instead.
He is quite huge, and fulls transforms. He comes with his trusty ion blaster, and energon axe, Megatron in gun form, and of course, the Matrix of Leadership. He is quite kick ass. But, don’t take my word for it, check him out yourself over at my moblog! —>

CPU Cooler Issues
I do believe I have solved my cooler issues. Since I put my Arctic 4 Freezer on my new processor, it has been lagging a bit, programs have been locking up randomly, and it’s been running really hot. How hot you ask? How’s a normal temperature of 158f sound?
So, I broke everything down this afternoon, and pulled the cooler off. I wiped off the crappy thermal paste they give you, and applied a nice new layer of vantec thermal paste. I also took out the power supply and made sure this cooler was a secure as it could get.
I’ve been up and running now for over an hour, and the normal operating temperature right now is 127f. That’s a decrease of almost 30 degrees! Hopefully this will end my sluggishness and random lockups.

Hello 2007
So it’s 2007 they say. So where the hell are all the flying cars?
Actually, New Year’s Eve for us was quite tame. We had a nice turkey dinner, watched some TV, and fell asleep to the original Star Trek on TV Land around 12:30am. Yeah I know, what an exciting night.
The funny thing is that I never really saw the big deal about New Year’s Eve. Our planet as a whole doesn’t run off of one set clock or calendar, so depending where you are what culture you are, everyone’s New Year is different. Hell, while people in Times Square were partying it up, people out in California were probably just getting to where they were going to part since it was on 9pm there. I just can’t buy into the whole thing. I just think it’s one more holiday to give an excuse to people to drink in excess. You drink on any other Sunday night till you can’t walk straight, you’re considered an alcoholic. But, drink on New Year’s Eve until you can’t walk anymore, and it’s perfectly acceptable. I just don’t get it.
So the first day of 2007 has been very non-eventful for me so far. Woke up, showered, did some laundry, cleaned up and vacuumed the living room, and made some lunch. After lunch I worked on a website for i/o Computers for about 2 hours, re-affixed my CPU cooler that hasn’t been on right, and now I’m making a post debating whether or not to hit up that plate of cold turkey in the fridge. Really an exciting day.
Although there is still more laundry and dishes to do, I am going to try and play some World of Warcraft today. I have about 7 or so hour into it so far, and it’s not too bad. I’m still learning everything, and it’s going to take me a while to really be comfortable with it, but I think I like it. Although I will have to say this…so far, for me at least, it is not as addicting as EverQuest was for me. With EQ, I would literally have dreams about playing when I slept and when I was awake and not playing, all I would think about was playing. Hell, I can recall very clearly a bunch of us meeting every Sunday afternoon to play basketball, and while we were playing, we were planning out that evening’s hunt in EQ. After we would get done playing, we would all go home, shower (hopefully at least!), eat, and meet online in EQ and play for a few hours. I have to say that those times were really fun and I do miss them. It’s a bit different playing one of these games where no one else you know plays. It’s a good and bad thing. It’s bad because you really don’t have anyone to talk to about the game outside of the game. But it’s also good because when you play with friends, you tend to feel pressured to play when they do, even if it’s not convienant for you. Like everything else in life, it has it good sides, and its bad sides.
