It’s Still Thinking
Today is the 7th anniversary of the launch of the Sega Dreamcast, by far, my favorite video game system of all time. I can remember being at the midnight opening at Electronics Boutique and the swarms of people waiting to get their hands on this new, revolutionary 128 bit system. Funny thing about that midnight opening – I was there working it, even though I was not employed by EB. My girlfriend at the time worked there, and I was friends with all of the staff there given that I worked at Sears at the time which was only stores away. So, I met her and some of the guys from there for dinner before the opening at Chili’s. It was over dinner that they expressed uncertainy about having enough people there to handle the crowd. So, that’s when I volunteered to help out. They took me up on it, slapped a black Dreamcast t-shirt on me, and I shuttled systems to people from midnight until about 4am. I didn’t get paid for it, but I was such a fanboy for the system (still am too!), that I just wanted to be part of the launch.

The End of Summer
The day is quickly coming to a close, and with it, goes the summer of 2006 in my books.
It was an interesting summer. Due to time and financial constraints, I didn’t get to do all that I wanted to. We never got a chance to go camping due to time constraints, and only made it to 2 place this summer due to financial constraints. All in all though, it was a pretty decent summer.
Some of the highlights include my finally getting broadband, i/o Computers got it’s first big commercial contract, and I got to host a very successful cookout for everyone in the wedding party.
Although I will be happy that next summer will not have 1 day of wedding planning associated with it!

New Section
Since I’m totally g33king out and can’t sleep, I decided to add a new section with screencaps from all of the old site designs I had a good record of. If you look up at the tabs above, there’s a new once called “site history” that will take you on a visual tour of this site’s past.
See, these are the kinds of things I do when I can’t sleep.

Flux Capacitor…Fluxing
I’ve been going through all of my files form the many inarnations of this site for the past 5 years. Man have I had some really kick ass layouts and some that just plain sucked! I think I’ve gone through literally about 10 different layouts in the past few hours. It’s funny looking at how design has changed so much in that time. I’ve gone from using very rudamentary tables, to frames, to complex tables, and finally CSS. The most disappointing thing is that one of my favorite layouts was never saved locally. It was back when I was using Movabletype, and I had modified a Matrix theme that someone wrote. Hell, it was so good that eventually JP ended up stealing it for his own site. (slight burn there buddy!) I have a screen shot of it from back then, but it’s only a partial screen shot from inside of Linux. Suck…
After going through all of these files, I think it might be fun to re-do some of them for the site current incarnation. Also, I may integrate some of the elements I liked the most from past layouts into this one. Hell, it’s going for 3am right now, I don’t have any real plans tomorrow…I say the sky’s the limit!!!

Rain Man
It’s raining again. This time it’s Ernesto that’s dumpiong inches of rain upon us. Hopefully, things won’t get as bad as they did back in June.
Tomorrow is Gavin’s 4th 3rd birthday party, and what was supposed to be an outdoor party, has quickly turned into an indoor party. No biggie really. Although I’m sure they would rather be playing outside in the yard then inside with us old people.
JP and I just got done doing some i/o Computers stuff. Things have been going well for the business, although I still wish I could find more time to really focus on it.
I really would write more, but I am rather tired and in desperate need of a good 12 hours of sleep. Good night cruel world….
