Fun Stuff

This was a decent week. Jess and I went out on Wednesday and bought a new digital camera and a miniDV camcorder for our honeymoon. I also finally bought a legit copy of Unreal Tournament 2004. And today, we got our new couch.

I really wish I had more to write about, but I don’t. Jess is at work tonight, and I plan on playing at least one game tonight online. I’ve been hoping in and out of some UT2K4 games, and I’ve been pretty pleased with my gamplay consiering I haven’t played in a few months. On of the guys I work with has been trying to get me to pick up Halo 2 for the XBox and open up an Xbox Live account to play online, but that’s a lot of money right now that needs to go in other places.

I would write more, but there’s not much more to say and I think it’s time to load up Gamespy and get some game on. Later…

Getting Older, Or Getting Pickier?

I watched a few game trailers for the PS3 this morning, and I have to tell you, not one of them made me want to own said system. In fact, a lot of the games look like PS2 launch titles. I don’t mean graphics wise, but I mean gameplay wise. Which, leads me into a little story…

When the PS2 launched, I was working as a manager at EB at the time. Yes, I was part of the frenzy to get peopel to pre-order system we knew damn well we would never get. But that a whole other conversation right there. I had my all pre-paid with a few games and I can remember bringing it home on launch day. I had just moved out on my own with my girlfriend at the time, and I can remember sitting on the floor with my new PS2 and a stack of new games, playing each game for about 20 minutes, and then popping in a new game. I remember how exciting it was to play these new games I had on ly seen trailers and screenshots of for months. Looking back, it was a great time to be a gamer. And looking back, it’s really depressing. Why? Well, out of all the launch titles that I purchased, only one held my attention long enough for me to totally conquer. That game would be Tekken Tag Tournament. Every other game has some great eye candy, but not enough playability to really keep me playing any longer than about an hour or so. Hell, Fantavision was a great example of eye candy, but what the hell was the point of that game anyway? Jesus, it makes me want to look online after work and see if I can get a used copy just to remind myself that I STILL have no clue what the hell was up with that game.

My point to all of this, is that I see a very cimiliar pattern with all of the launch titles for the PS3. A lot of eye candy, but it’s the same games we have been playing for years.

Maybe I’m getting older, mayber I’m getting pickier in my game choices, or maybe I’ve been around long enough to see that everything new is old. All I do know is that the Wii will be earning a place on my entertainment center this winter, and I am prefectly ok with that.

I’m Back

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week. Things were a little rough.

I really don’t want to dwell on certain things, but here is a quick run down.

Lola was sick at the end of last week. After several visits to the vet, her condition continued to worsen. Finally, on Monday 9/18, we had to make the impossibly hard decision and put her to sleep. I did not do a tribute image like I did for Gandalf, because this is still a sensitive subject for me, and honestly, I couldn’t handle making such an image for my Lola-Monster. Hell, it hit me so hard I didn’t even touch my computer all week. It’s still a bit of a tender subject, so this is where we’re going to leave this for now.

My manager at work was on vacation this week, which means I was in charge. Normally that wouldn’t be too bad, except every weird thing in the book happened to me. From installs gone wrong, to installers being bitten by pit bulls, I had to deal with it all. Yeah…pit bulls. Anyhow, this past week is over, and it is one I am glad to have behind me.

Everything for the wedding is going just fine. We have a few loose ends to tie up here and there, but for the most part, we’re almost ready. All I have to do personally is finish pouring up some resin communicators for the wedding. With the high humidity, they’re taking a bit longer to dry than I expected, so I figure I can have them all poured by the end of the week.

Other than that, today is my first day off in a week, (worked 6 days straight), so I have already blocked off the majority of the day to getting some of my shit done. I think I deserve it!!

Sunday = Funday…Maybe…

So here we are. Another Sunday, another day off (rightly deserved!)

Last night was an interesting night. I was supposed to go over to the i/o Shop about 7pm to work on 2 systems and to get some more work doneon our new server. It was about 6pm, when Jess got a call from Target, with them offering her a management job in Stroudsburg. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to do the drive, so she asked for 24 hours to think it over and we hopped in the car to see where the store was at and to check out the drive. The drive itself wasn’t that bad, even though Google gave us the wrong directions totally. They had us going into a gates community rather that a shopping center. Oh well. A quick Google seach through my phone landed us the store’s phone number, and I gave them a call and got the right directions. The store wasn’t that bad, and we only stayed for about 30 minutes checking it all out. After that, we headed home and grabbed some dinner when we got back into town.

I finally made it over to the shop around 10pm or so, and ended up staying till about 4am. We got quite a bit of work done and it’s always fun haning out with JP and geeking out.

Today is a work/fun day. I want to add a tape backup system to my server, as well and start to clean out a laptop for a friend of mine. In cluded in all of this, I’m hoping to get a chance to play come games. I re-arranged my desk last night and moved around my monitors so it’s a bit easier to see my main monitor while playing games. We should be good now for some long-haul gaming!

Other then that I may tinker with the site a bit. Who knows. All i do know is that I have 21 hours and 20 minutes until I have to be at work.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

ThinkPad Explodes At LAX, Ignites Bomb Scare

In a time when you’re not even allowed to say the word “bomb” in an airport (hey, it’s for good reason), it’s got to be like, really freaking embarrassing to have to run up the jetway at full speed, shoving other passengers out of the way as your flaming laptop explodes on the ground
