Trapped In A Little Office
Well, here I am spending another boring Saturday at work. I had a whopping one installer go out this morning with 2 replacement windows, so now I’ve got to fill the rest of the day with something. I think after lunch, I’ll go into receiving and clean out my install bays. Speaking of lunch, Paul, Wally and I are going for lunch around noon. It should be fun.
Jess is of course off this weekend, and I think she’s going to start painting the living room. We finally picked out the color last week and got a quart in a satin finish to test on the walls to see if we really liked it. After 3 coats and letting it dry for 24 hours, we realized satin finish looks like shit in there. It has no shine to it and looks just like a flat finish. So, we’re going to go with a semi-gloss finish to give the room a little life.
As far as I know, we’re not doing much tonight. We’ll probably stay in and hang out – especially if it’s going to rain as hard as they say it’s supposed to tonight. We’ll probably finish watching parts 2 & 3 of ‘The Triangle’ since we both fell asleep halfway through part 2 last night. The first part was really good, and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the series. Also, I may try and play some games either tonight or tomorrow. I’ve had the itch to play either some ‘Metal Gear Solid’ or some ‘Tekken 5′ lately. If I don’t get a chance to this weekend, I’m off Tuesday and Wednesday, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to then.

Perfect Dark
I just got back from taking a walk. This was my first walk of the season. Wait…I’d batter explain.
OnceĀ the weather breaks, I usually start going for walks every day. I try for at least one a day, but usually end up taking two. What I do is walk around the block essentially 3 times, which I believe equates to a little over a mile. Not a lot you might think, but considering the amount of walking I do during the day at work, and extra 2+ miles adds up. I prefer to walk late at night, but when I start taking two walks, one usually happens in the morning or afternoon, and the last one after the 11pm timeframe. When I first start these, it usually takes me about 35 minutes to do all three laps. When I’m at my peak in the summer, I can do my three laps without heavy breathing in 20 minutes flat. Not too shabby as far as I am concerned.
Anyway, tonight was the most perfect night for walking. Clear skies, an almost full moon, and weather so perfect you couldn’t program it better. Itis nice and warm out, with an ever so slight cool breeze blowing. Since it’s still early in the season, there are no bugs out either to eat you alive. Like I said — perfect.

PS3 — Not In My House!
So, yesterday at E3, Sony made some announcements about the upcoming PS3. For those of you who may not know it, I have always been a fan of the Playstation. We used to play the hell out of the demo unit of the original Playstation at Toys ‘R’ Us, and I had my PS2 on launch day. But, I think I may have to hold off quite a while for a PS3. Whyyou ask? First of all, let’s take a look at the pricing.

Ouch.
Back when the PS3 launched, $299 was a pretty high price tag, but I paid it anyway to get my hands on the new Tekken, and a few other select titles. But, now that the price is $499, and that doesn’t even come with a wireless controller, I’m really going to have to see something to blow my mind to make me buy one of these things.
Speaking of controllers, here’s what the brilliant minds at Sony have come up with for the “next generation” machine.

Hmm, have we seen this design before?? Yes, but only better. While this “new” controller looks almost exactly like the classic PS2 controller, there are some differences. This one has bluetooth capabilities, it has a gyroscopr build into it, and oh yeah, NO VIBRATION FUNCTION! How in the hell can you take out a vibration function that you Sony, basically made standard back in the day with your original Dual Shock controllers for the original Playstation?? This just doesn’t makse sense to me. Their excuse is that they had to drop it since it interfeered with the controller’s “senseors”. I say that a load of crap. With all the technology behind Sony, you’re telling me that they couldn’t have come up with something to fit it in there??
I really hate to say it, but the PS3 sounds like a failure already.
Jess and I will be welcoming a brand new Nintendo Wii into our home once it launches. The only way I’ll pick up a PS3 is either used, or after a year and a redesign. To me, it’s just not worth it.

Power Supply Failure
My power supply went in my computer today, thus, I spent the night in seach of a new PS and getting it installed. Normally, I would just order one through i/o Computers, but I needed this machine up tonight, so I had to buy one locally. We do have a test PS in the shop, but taht was only a 350w unit, and my rig had a 400w unit in it. Plus, I really wanted to upgrade. So, I ended up scoring a decent 500w unit.
I have some pics of the install, which I’ll throw on the moblog tomorrow. As for right now, I’m beat, and I have work in 7 hours. Time for bed!!

Network Back Up and Running
Well, it only took about 24 hours, but my computer room has been gutted, and put back together again. With this new setup, I now have a lot more room to do what I do….whatever the hell that is.
Having the past 2 days off was quite nice. I got my computer room done which is something I have been wanting to do for a few weeks now. Jess and I got to spend some time together, and JP and I got to hang out for a while this afternoon. Not too shabby. Plus, I go back to work on Thursday and Friday, and then I get the weekend off. Not too bad indeed!
I have to admit that I’m getting bad at answering emails again. After dinner tonight I sat down for about an hour and cranked out a few emails that should have gone out much earlier than that. I wish I could blame all of this on laziness, but it’s just a matter of time right now. In the past few weeks, I’m lucky if I get an hour some days on the computer, and most of that is checking critical emails, dealing with aspects of the business, and then quickly doing my daily online rounds. Hopefully things will start to even out a bit and I’ll be able to get back to spending an unhealthy amount of time in front of these radiation emitting CRTs.
Jess and I get to go to Scranton for a wedding cake appointment on Saturday afternoon. Yay!! Can you see that I am excited?!? o_0
In all seriousness though, I’m glad we’re going so we can put that aspect behind us. When we first started planning the wedding out, it was all fun and new. Now, we both just want the damn thing to be over with. it really is a big hastle for months and months which all boils down to a few hours. In comparrison, it’s kinda like Christmas. All the build up, and before you know it on that big day, it’s all over with. Hopefully, I won’t be too drunk so I can actually remember everything. It really would suck if after all these months of planning, I go so drunk that I didn’t remember anything.
Well, since I don’t have anything else world-shattering, I think I will go make my lunch for tomorrow, and then retire to the bedroom since I have to leave for work in about 7 hours. Ahh…2 more days and I get to sleep in again. Later….
