Monday Morning Musings
Time for some Monday morning musings!
This past week has been a hectic once, and I apologize for not posting more. The business, i/o Computers, has seen a huge jump in business these past few weeks. In fact, Friday was the only day last week that we did not get a least 1 system into the shop. I really have to thank my man JP for taking on such a workload. I was supposed to start my new job with its new schedule this past Saturday, but, they had to move it back a week, so I have been unable to really get to the shop to help. I owe you one man!
Yeah, so they moved the start date of my job back to the 25th. I was really disappointed that they did that since I would have had this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Not only would it have helped out with the business, I would have been able to see Jess a little more. Oh well, 1 more week I suppose. Actually, I only have 3 days of work left in hardware. I get the honor of closing by myself tonight and tomorrow, and then an open shift on Friday. After that, it should be weekend off and my new job on Monday morning.
The cats have really discovered Quincy now. Lola in particular will now jump up onto the top of the aquarium and just stare at Quincy. This just pisses Quincy off so she’ll climb to the top of the branch I put in there for her, grab a hold of the top of the wire mesh lid, and extend her dewlap. It’s kinda funny, actually. We’ve been taking her out now at least once a day and she’s getting calmer each time we do it. In fact, once she out now, she’s calm enough where we can actually lay her on our chest and she’ll hold on to our shirt while we walk around the house. She’s really adorable!
Well, I’d better go get ready to start the day. I have to take a trip to the shop before JP head off to work to grab machine for a guy I work with. I really can’t wait for the new shop to be build so we can enter it independently of his house. Soon. Later…

Enter Quincy
It happened again last night.
Actually, this has been a long time coming. I’ve wanted an iguana for quite a few years now, and actually came close to buying one when my ex left a few years ago. But, I was busy with a few things at the time, and decided that a pet wasn’t in my best interest.
So, we were at the pet store a few days ago and they had a sale on this cute baby iguana. Jess know that I’ve always wanted one, and she came over to take a look with me. After checking him out for a few minutes she told me that was a good price for one and that I should get it. I laughed and told her that we didn’t have room for one. She then reminded me that since all the fish died last week (another bad infection), and I was going to stip down the aquarium anyway, now would be a great time to get one and we can convert the 40 gallon aquarium into the iguana’s habitat. I told her I would think about it and that was that.
Yesterday at work I thought about it a few times, but in the end, I was still unsure. I ended up leaving work an hour early since I didn’t get an opportunity to take a lunch, and on the way home, stopped at the $1 Store and picked up a few buckets to start cleaning out the aquarium. It only took me about 45 minutes to drain all o fthe water, dismantle the filter, scoop all of the gravel out (50 lbs. worth!), unhook the heater and hood, scour out the stank and clean it with a combination of bleech and water, and then clean all of the filter parts for storage. Once everything was said and done, I sat here in the computer room starring at an empty glass aquarium. Then my mind started to shift to the iguana. So, I looked upa few sites about iguanas. I read about their care, their diet, and how to create a habitat.
So, after dinner, I talked to Jess about maybe going and getting the iguana, and she was excited about it. Apparently, she’s always wanted one as well, but didn’t want to influence my decision. So, after dinner we headed down to Trpoic Pet Center downtown, and bought ourselves an iguana. We named him Quincy after the iguana in Foxtrot, one of our all time favorite comic strips.
Actually, let me back that up a bit. Jess bought a book on iguanas last night, and according to the book, it looks like Quincy is a she. That’s not going to change her name, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
Anyway, here are a few pics of Quincy enjoying her new digs.
You can really see in the last picture how long her tail is. She’s only going to be able to last a few months in that aquarium before we’re going to have to make bigger quarters for her. They say that iguanas can grow up to 4ft long and up to 15lbs. If that is true, in a few years, she’ll be chasing the cats around!!
Fraggin’
Ahh…frags.
I tried to play “Call of Duty” last night but failed totally. I did install the game ans play the first 2 level, that’s about all I lasted. Instead of running from cover to cover and laying down cover fire, I just rushed in and was promptly mowed down by a very large calibur machine gun. I was in a run-n-gun mood, and I should have just installed and played Quake 3.
I did just that tonight.
In fact, I just got done running through the whole game right now. Granted, it was on the easiest level, but since it’s been about 2 years since I last played that game, I figured that was a safe level to refresh my FPS skillz.
So yeah…I totally rocked in Quake 3.
Bonus Level
I felt bad about skipping a wallpaper last week, so I’ve posted a bonus wallpaper for this week.
I was searching around my hard drive tonight, and I found a little directory called “smith-fest”. JP and a few other people should remember what this was. This was our pretty much failed attempt a few years ago to watch all of the Kevin Smith films in one sitting, while broadcasting the entire event live over a webcam. I’ve re-posted the entire site (sans news comments due to News Pro) so you can see what went on yourself. Not much is there, but you can read about what was to be in the ‘Smith Fest Follies‘ section.
As for me right now, it’s too damn late to think anymore and I’m going to bed. Snoogans…

Pushing Forward
I should have know I would have been punished for having such an awesome weekend. Normally, I would just sit here and complain about how much work sucks, but, if you’re hear reading this, chances are you already know that. I’ll save us each a few minutes of our lives and we’ll just leave it at that.
There’s a new “project” that I have been working on for about 2 months now that is starting to take shape. Unlike some other projects in the past, I am keeping this one under my hat until it’s ready. Right now I’m thinking sometime in May, but that could all change at any time.
Wow, I really thought I would have a lot more to talk about then I apparently do. I guess this is going to be one of them short posts.
Yep, that’s indeed what this is.
