Yeah…

This weekend was both fun, yet exhausting. In fact, this morning was the first time I could sleep in, and as such, slept for a full 10 hours.

Som interestig things happened on Sunday at the ye old bridal show. The most interesting of which was seeing my ex’s mother, aunt, and sister there. Apparently, her sister is getting married, and that’s why they were there. I first noticed her mothier walking by when we were sitting at the fashion show (don’t ask!). I pointed her out to Jess, and literally a few minutes, all three of them came over and stood kind of right by us. My ex wasn’t there sadly, so no heart felt reunion took place. :-( Anywho, it took them a while to notice me, but when they did, boy was it ever fun. Jess and I were laughin it up and halding hands, I was laughing it up with her mother on the other side of me…it was great!! They keep looking daggers at us the whole time. Jess even told me when she got up to make an appointment for invitations, they looked her up and down with daggers in their eyes. The totally funny thing about all of this is the fact that my ex broke up with me! If they’re looking at me with hate because I am truly happy and she is off being misirable somewhere, it’s not my fault! Ahh, I love how the irony of the whole situation 4 years later puts a nice big smile on my face!

I close for the next 3 nights at work. Honestly, I’d rather be opening, but, you’ve got to roll with the punches sometimes. It should all be good regardless.

I have switched a few things up here in the past couple of weeks that I haven’t posted about. After a love affair which had lasted almost 10 years, I am no longer using Norton as my avti-virus software. I used toi be a diehard fan of their Security Center/Suite software, but in the past few years, it has really become some serious bloatware. In fact, I even switched to Norton Corporate Edition last year to trim some of the fat, but I still didn’t like what it considered a virus and what it didn’t. So, I switched over completely to AVG. We use it for i/o Computer on our MRI disc, and it works great. Best of all, it’s freeware. So far, it seems to really get the job done.

The other program I have been using a lot of too is Barca 2 as my email client. It’s fast, stable, lightweight, and does just about everything I need it to do. I really liked Thunderbird, but I check about 11 addresses everytime I load up the program. It seems like it would only check out 8 of those at a time, and just forget about the rest. This is unacceptable since I need to get all of my email when I ask for it. So far, Barca 2 seems to grab every message, everytime.

On a lighter note, Jess and I have been hook on ‘Millenium’ for the past few weeks. I always love dthe show when Sci-Fi used to show it with ‘The X-Files’ when I lived at home, and I haven’t seen it in years. After Christmas, Wal-Mart slashed the price of season one on DVD to a nice $19.99. I picked it up, and Jess started watching it with me. Needless to say that when we reached the final episode of the first season, she pouted like a little kid on Christmas who didn’t get the dolly she really wanted. So, being the nice guy that I am (and wanting it as well), I went out and bought the rest of the series. Right now we’re on disc 3 of season 2 and loving every minute of it.

Well, it’s about that time for me to go and get ready for work and all. Later…

Good Times

The past 3 days have been good. Allow me to fill you in.

On Thursday night JP and I went wardriving again. All we basically did was start to really map out some parts of the city with out handy dandy GPS unit. A good time was had by all.

Friday I had work, and it was okay. Couldn’t complain too much since I knew I had the weekend off. Jess had a second interview for a job she was applying for at the Wachovoa Arena. After I got home from work, we were trying to decide what to make for dinner when she got a call on her cell phone. She had gotten the job!! So, we decided to throw cooking by the wayside and go out for sushi to celebrate. After we got home from our sushi extravangaza, we got a call from my sister, Mel. She got some free tickets to a hockey game that night and wanted to know if Jess and I wanted to go with her and Kyla. Not one to turn a good time down – especially a free one — we accpeted and went and picked them up. It’s been a few years since I was to a hockey game and this was not only Jess’s first hockey game ever, but her first even in the arena ever. Yes, she got a job at a place that she had basically never been to before. Weird, but I digress. We had a most awesome time at the game and vowed to go to more with Mel and Kyla when our schedules allow. We came back home and watched a few episodes of Millenium and went to bed.

Today, Jess’s dad and his wife Sue came up for the day. We went and got her dad fitted for his tux which was fun. Then we headed over to the Ramada to show them the place where they are going to have the reception. They seemed to really like it. All the lights were turned off, so I played around with all the switches on the wall until I got all the lights on. I’m pretty sure I should have been kicked out for this, but no one noticed the lights in the room flashing on and off I guess. After that, we went to the cemetery so they could check out the chapel again. My dad took a walk up with us and we all hung out for a bit and talked about the logistics of where to put all the vehicles and people. Hopefully, everything should go of without a glitch. After all of that, we headed back home for a feast of deer steak and chicken on the grill. We made so much meat, even the cats got a good meal out of it!!

All in all, I would have to say that I’ve had a pretty good 3 days. Tomorrow Jess’s mom should be coming up, and Jess is dragging us all to a bridal show. Since I am the only one who knows how to get there (kinda), I am being forced to go. Although, they will have some DJs there, and we still need to book one of those. Although, I made a deal with her — I will go willingly as long as my iPod gets to go as well with no complaints. She agreed. So, it looks like I’ll be listening to the newest TWiT while they do their girl thing. Not a bad deal if you ask me really since she said they should have some cake samples there as well. Then, after all of that, we head to my parent’s house for their annual Super Bowl Party. This year should be especially fiesty since my dad has been a life-long Steelers fan. Good thing I like Chicago and not Seattle!

Everybody Have Fun Tonight

Everybody Wang-Chung Tonight.

Jess and I had a most wonderful evening tonight. First, of all, she called me this morning and asked me to pick her up for lunch at Wendy’s — always a good time. After dropping her back opff at work, I came home and attacked the mountain of dishes that seemed to manifest themselves almost overnight. After she came home, we went out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse. I got the fried catfish which was pretty good, but their chili is the shiznit. It totally kicks ass. As a matter of fact, so do their prices. I got the fried catfish dinner, and Jess got a 8oz. steak. The bill all tolled came to a whopping $22. Not too shabby when you’re talking seafood and steak. Afterwards, we went to the Viewmont and Steamtown malls so she could look at shoes for the whole wedding-thing we’re doing.

Oh, Jess would kill me if I didn’t mention this part. After we came back from Scranton, we stopped at Fameous Footwear so Jess could get a new pair of sneakers. They’re called Rocket Dogs and she’s totally in love with them. In fact, I think she maybe wearing them to bed tonight. Anyway, here is Jess in her Rocket Dogs:

Tomorrow night, if all goes as planned, JP, Joel and I should be going out Wardriving to test out the new antenna we purchased off of eBay last week. JP has tested it out already on his own and he has said it was a most kick ass purchase. We’ll find out tomorrow.

Not too much else is going on. I have the weekend off which is most spanktastic. Jess’s dad and wife are coming up on Saturday so he can get fitted for his tux and to check out some of the stuff we’ve been spending his money on. We’ll probably have some nice deer steaks on the grill for dinner — again most excellent. On Sunday Jess has guilted me into going to a bridal show with her at the Irem Temple Country Club out in Dallas. The one good thing is there are going to be some DJs there, and we still need to book one of those.

Well, it’s time to go watch some more episodes of Millenium. Catch everyone later…

Maybe It’s Just Me…

I had to look up some remote control codes for a universal remote for Nanny today. In doing a simple Google search, I came across this site. Am I the only one that thinks the price is a bit wonky??
