Can’t Sleep

Since I have been closing the past 2 nights and sleeping in in the morning, I can’t seem to get tired tonight. I had planned to play a little Guild Wars, but then I got an idea and starting fooling around in Phototshop. The result is the new header image you can see at the top of the page. I’m usually pretty tough on my own work, but I am rather pleased with the way it turned out. It’s almost exactly what I had in my head, for better or for worse.

In addition to the new header, I also uploaded a new wallpaper. For those of you who don’t know, Evangeline Lilly plays Kate on Lost. Since I am waiting to receive disc 5 of the show (they sent me 2 copies of disc 6 instead of disc 5 and 6), I thought I might get a little fix this way. Call me what you will, it’s my site and I pay the bandwidth bills!!

Not much else to really talk about, just figured I’d do something else to see if I can get myself tired. But, I’m still wide awake so it’s time to find something else to do. Later…

“Just Keep Moving”

That’s the mantra I have been telling myself for the past 2 days. It seems that a germ of ill temper is trying to invade my body, and I am trying to fight it off at every turn. Sometimes I win, other times I lose. Last night I’m happy enough to call it a draw.

Yesterday at work was another wonderfully hellacious day. Literally tons of freight to put away. I kind of blew up on 2 of my workers as well since they decided that fooling around was a lot better then helping put everything away. Now, keep in mind that these guys were there for several house before I even showed up, and I got more work done then they did in the span of about an hour. They came over to bust my chops while I was trying to put away some ladders and I just lost it. Funny thing though, after I yelled at them, they didn’t stop working until the end of their shift.

Oh yeah, I also had to not only work until 11pm, but I was by myself in both departments after 8pm. Oh the joy!

Jess has been busy planning for the wedding. In fact, she’s so into this she can’t even sleep at night. It’s very cute. After talking for a few days, I think we may have finally narrowed down our list for the wedding party. All we need to do now is ask the rest of the people. When we first started out, we had 3 on each side. Now, we’re up to 5 and I do believe that this is a very firm number. Jess’s friend Kelly is coming up from New Jersey on Friday night so they can both go to Jess’s dress fitting on Saturday afternoon. It should be a fun time.

Turkey Day is 1 week from today. I can’t wait for that! Two houses = two dinners!!

Strangeness

Jess is sitting here right next to me on the phone with her sister who is a professional wedding planner. Right now they are talking about different flowers for the wedding and arrangements. Tonight, we even went to the chapel where we’re going to get married and took some pictures with the digital camera so she could sketch on them to see what decorations she would want.

It’s all kind of surreal. It’s hard to believe that we’re sitting here planning out our wedding. Later on, we’re going to be making a list of reception halls to call and check out so we can finalize a date.

So in the past year I have moved in with the woman I love, started a computer business, met Kevin Smith, bought an engagement ring, and am now helping to plan my wedding.

What a year!!!

It’s All Official Now

The last few days have been a whirlwind.

On Thursday, I finally got The Ring and proposed to Jess. Shortly after she got the results back from the ring appraisal, she said “yes”. (kidding) She said “yes” instantly, and then we went out to eat to celebrate. After that, we hit almost all of the houses locally that we wanted to hit that night to show it off and tell people.

Friday night was spent Christmas shopping. Literally, all night. But, we’re less than a dozen presents away from being totally finished with everyone. That’s pretty kick ass!

Saturday was spent on the road. Lunch with her friend Kelly in Easton, then to her mother’s in New Jersey to spend sometime and then have dinner with her. Then out to Easton to see her father and his new house, and then finally to Nazareth to see her sister and her husband. We ended up getting home about 12:45am, and immediately went right to bed.

Today is clean the house day. That means, well, cleaning the house, doing laundry, and then maybe wrapping some Christmas presents. We have about 3 more people to tell about the engagement and I think we’re going to try and do that today.

Sorry if this post is a little ‘warbled’, but the last 3 days have felt like one, extremely long day.

And after talking about our initial wedding plans with every fascet of her family yesterday, I now understand why everyone has been telling us to elope…

Novemeber Thunderstorm

I was just sitting here reading Penny Arcade, when all of the sudden, I look up and a freakin’ bolt of lightning shoots down from the dark grey sky out my window, followed by a nice rumble of thunder. Very nice…

Gloom and Doom

Today was a typical November day. It was dark, rainy, and cold all day. In fact right now, at 3:45pm , the street lights are on. I know I maybe a sick sadistic bastard, but I love this kind of weather. I love it when it’s all dark and gloomy out. It’s like it gives me some kind of weird “dark energy” that stirs my creative juices and lets me code better, write better, and draw better.

You can ignore my use of the word “juices” above. I think I may have went a little too far with that one.

It’s hard to believe that 2 weeks tomorrow will be Thanksgiving. On top of the usual helpings of turkey, stuffing and apple pie, Jess and I have set Thanksgiving as our goal to have all of our Christmas shopping done, with the only exception being us. Okay, maybe that was a little confusing. We’re hoping that by Thanksgiving Day to have everyone’s Christmas presents bought except for what Jess and I are getting each other. Yeah, that’s better.

This Thanksgiving will be a lot like last year, in that I will be having dinner here with my family, and then driving to New Jersey afterwards and having another dinner with her family. The only difference this year is that since Jess lives here with me, she’ll also be coming to my parent’s house for dinner and we’ll get to drive down together to New Jersey. That should be fun!

Well, since Netflix was nice enough to send me 3 more discs of Lost today, I think I am going to go watch one. Later…

Tired and Tolled

Today was yet another hellacious day at work. Thank Christ I have the next two days off and this coming weekend off!

Tomorrow is going to be house day. THe plan right now is to power wash the siding since the roof has finally been completed (yay!), clean out and seed the yard, clean out the rest of the basment, and then finally clean out my car. Since tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60s, I think this would be a good day to get all of this done.

I did some more coding on the back end of the site this morning before work. I do believe I have the whole comment situation buttoned up about as tight as I am going to get it. There is one fatal flaw however. If you go to leave a comment and you haven’t had a comment approved previously, it’s going to go automatically into a moderation queue. I found 3 comments this morning that fit that criteria. So, if you happen to make a comment and you do see it up after a few days, just shoot me an email at trev@twev1701.net and I’ll check into it. In addition to the comment system, I also changed the way the archives appear now. So, if you click on say July 2004 (a good month indeed), you’ll see all the posts in their entirity, not just little blurbs from them.

And last but not least, my other book that I bought myself for my birthday came today!!
