Survived

Well, I survived yesterday without another life-threatening incident. Although my day went rather well, my night totally sucked. Luckily, in the last few minutes of the night, I found something to totally cheer me up and made my night better. It’s really amazing how blatent murder can make you happy sometimes!

Bad Omen??

Ok, is this something that’s going to follow me around all day? I have the weekend off, and it’s supposed to be really nice and warm out, so I have lots of things I want to get done outside and stuff. So, I wake up this morning, and decide that I’m going to go grab a quick breakfast at McDonalds. Not the best breakfast, but then again, I rarely eat breakfast. So, I hop in the shower, get dressed, and head down there.

This is where the omen part starts.

As soon as I pull in, I am followed by a Fire Command car with the lights blaring and 2 fire trucks, both wailing away. “Hmmm,” I thought, “these guys must be hungry too.” So I pull up to the drive through and low and behold all of the employees are starting outside. So much for the hungry fireman theory. No, as it turns out McDonalds is actually on fire or something like that.

Everything turned out ok as I just went across the street to Burger King for some french toast sticks, but should is this some sort of bad omen that I should be worried about? Am I now cursed with bad Karma for the rest of the day? Well, I’ll post later on tonight to let you know how my day went. If you don’t hear from me, I’m most likely in the hospital in traction or something, so you’ll know the bad Karma was real.

But before I go and buy the farm, for all of you faithful Firefox users out there (should be all of you dammit!!), check out this really great util for it!

Onslaught

I’ve been playing a lot of Unreal Tournemanet 2004 the past 2 days, and I have to say that it is one hell of a game. Not only is it a great game in and of itself, but it also includes all of the content from UT2K3, which mean essentially you’re getting 2 games in one. Always a great deal.

There’s a new mode in 2K4 called “onslaught” that has been all the hype. To be perfectaly honest, I could never understand the concept. Not liking to feel dumb, I did some reading yesterday on how exactly to play this mode and what it’s underlying principles were. Once that I felt I had a decent grasp on the game, I loaded it up and played a little to see if I really understood it. After playing 2 rounds, I walked away with a farily solid impression of it…

ONSLAUGHT IS THE SHIT!!!!!

*ahem* Sorry about that. Needless to say, I have almost exclusively been playing in onslaught mode, rather than the normal Deathmatch I always play in. That alone, for those who know me, speaks volumes.

Photo Blog

Just to be a g33k I decided to create a photo blog. I got the idea about starting one late last night, but it was too late to do anything about it. So, I decided to take my PPC (Pocket PC to the anti-g33k) to work and take a few pics to toy with the idea. I looked around for some code that would do what I wanted it to do, but in the end the best solution I found was Buzznet. Not only is it a free service and have all the features I want, because it’s mostly made for cell phones, I can automatically update the Photo Blog via 1 simple email. So that means I can take the pics on the PPC, write the email on the PPC, and set it up so when I get home, I just connect it to my PC and viola!! It automatically send the email off and the blog is updated. If only it was that easy to do that with Movabletype!

Anyway, you can access the Photo Blog by click on the picture at the right. That’s a feed from my site and it will always show my latest pic. Just click on it to read my Photo Blog entry and browse past pics.

See me later!

New Idea

I got a new idea tonight. Of course, I got this idea about 15 minutes ago and it’s too late to do anything about it because I have to be at work in about 6 hours, but I figured I’d post about it anyway.

What I think I’m going to do is start a nice little Phtot Blog, using my Pocket PC’s built in camera. I took a quick pic tonight and shrunk it down and I think it came out pretty good. All I need to do now is figure out how I want this to work and then do some coding. Maybe tomorrow night…

When Is Enough Enough?

Sometimes reading a good article can have a positive effect. Last night for example, I read a great article on video compression that helped me solve a problem that I’ve been having for about 2 weeks. An hour after reading the article, I had a 1.3 gig video compressed down to 2.4 meg with only about 5% picture loss. Not too shabby.

However, some articles can inspire you to do things that tend to make you question your own sanity. I got my new issue of Maximum PC yesterday, and I started readling it during my downtime (healing) in EverQuest. I got to a nice little article about how it was quite easy in Windows XP to have a 3 monitor setup. I already had a 2 monitor setup and to be honest, I think I’d freak out if I had to go back to a single monitor setup for any time longer then your average LAN Party. I’m grown to love my dual monitor setup that I literally got giddy when I imagine the prospect of 3 monitors. So, I followed their steps, which for me was just putting in an additional PCI video card and then setting everything up through Windows. About 10 minutes later, I have a nice 3 monitor setup. So far, I have to say it’s pretty schnazy. I have a 17″ on my left to house my Start Menu, System Tray, and main desktop crap. In the middle I have my main 19″ which holds my main active window and where all of my games will be displayed. Then on my far right, I have a 15″ monitor for IM, Winamp, and any other little thing that I don’t want to take up room on the other 2 monitors. For those of you who are imagination impaired, here’s a pic to help you along…

Now, how many more monitors can I add to the mix?? Hmmm….

Come On Monday Night…

Man, this is really starting to be a drag. I got out of work today at 7:15pm, 15 minutes later then I was supposed to. Notmally I really wouldn’t care, but this was my 7th day in a row! It’s been a while since I have done one of these stretches! All I know is that at 3pm tomorrow afternoon I will be doing a little happy dance because I have Tuesday off! Go me!

I was tweaking the site a bit tonight. I decided to see how many people actually read this site and have the same interests as I do, so I teamed up with Amazon so you can literally buy anything that I mention here that I feel is worthy enough of you spending your hard earned cabbage on. For instance, if you click on the images to the right of what I’m currently reading, watching, and playing, you’ll be taken tight to Amazon to buy said item. Pretty nifty, eh?

Anyway, that’s really about all the news I have. I have an eye appointment on Tuesday morning to get new glasses and contacts. Most people would find this a drag, but I’m really looking forward to this. The last time I got new galsses/exam was 6 years ago, and I really, really need a new prescription. That and the fact that my contacts are 10 years old. Yeah, I really need to do this more often.

And not too saound too much like a chick, but I went after work tonight to buy a new pair of jeans for work. For those of you who don’t know me, let me give you a bit of history. In high school, I was never heavy at all. In fact, for most of my high school years I weighed about 130-135 pounds and had a size 32 waist. Well, then Trevor got a thing called a driver’s licence and discovered the wonder of the drive-thru. Wherever you go, food is but a turn away. That and I was with a girl for almost 7 years who would love to eat all the wrong food. To make a long story short, at my worst I was right aroud 200 pounds and wore size 34 pants that were very snug. In the almost 2 years I have been single (apart from Miss Piggy) I have endeavored to lose the weight and put on some muscle. First off, I’m not a workout kind of guy. Sure, I enjoy to lift wieghts and take walks, but I can’t get into doing it on a scheduled basis. So, I got a job at Lowes. Why there you ask? Well, I do nothing but walk the entire store and lift heavy things all day. So basically, I get paid to work out. Next, I seriously altered my diet. All in all though, the results have been good. I’ve just about tripled my then muscle content, and when I bought the jeans tonight, I finally fit back into a size 32.

Wow, that was a long journey for something so dumb, wasn’t it?? That’ll teach you to read on next time. Just skip to the last sentence!!!

Ok, enough of this. Time to go play some Tekken 4 before bed!
